NXT has always made sure they are never left behind when it comes to the competition on Wednesday nights and have announced the return of the iconic Great American Bash to counter AEW’s two-night Fyter Fest special.
The Great American Bash themed episode will go head-to-head against the Night One of Fyter Fest, and three major matchups have been announced for the show already.
After Roderick Strong chickened out during his match against Dexter Lumis, the duo will collide in NXT’s first-ever Strap Match. WWE previously used the Strap Match stipulation during Daniel Bryan vs The Fiend earlier this year.
Rhea Ripley will take on Aliyah and Robert Stone in a unique mixed handicap match, which will mark Stone’s debut as a wrestler on the NXT brand. Ripley will have to join The Robert Stone Brand if she doesn’t come out on top.
Lastly, a major Fatal Four Way featuring Dakota Kai, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae, and Mia Yim is also announced with the winner getting a shot at Io Shirai’s NXT Women’s Championship.
WWE got the rights to the Great American Bash after they purchased WCW in 2001. They have previously used the theme for RAW, SmackDown, and ECW. The last episode with this theme was in 2012 on an episode of Super SmackDown.
