WWE has officially announced that NXT UK will be returning in September this year.
WWE released a promo and officially announced the news during the NXT Takeover: XXX event last night. The return date for NXT UK has been set to September 17.
NXT UK’s activities have been curtailed since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Training and tapings have been postponed, though the NXT UK Takeover: Dublin pay-per-view has remained on the calendar for October 25.
The last time that NXT UK was able to hold a show that was aired was on March 7. Due to the lack of new content, NXT UK has instead been airing episodes of “Best of” and “Superstar Picks” episodes during their timeslot on the WWE Network. NXT UK airs on Thursdays at 3 PM ET.
September 17 is expected to be the first time in months that there will be new episodes of NXT UK. It was reported earlier that the NXT roster was in London. They are getting tested for COVID-19, likely in preparation for a return to TV tapings.
Last Friday, NXT UK’s twitter account posted a hype video for their women’s division. The video features the potential opponents for NXT UK’s current Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray.
