WWE has officially announced several new signees for NXT UK, including a veteran Japanese female wrestler, a former Impact Wrestler, and the son of William Regal.
The first of these new signings, Meiko Satomura, was actually announced on Thursday with a vignette that was aired on the latest episode of NXT UK.
Satomura is set to challenge the current NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray. Ray is currently the longest women’s champion in NXT UK, having held the title for 516 days.
Satomura has been signed with WWE as a coach and in-ring talent. She had reportedly arrived at the WWE UK Performance Center in London earlier this month.
The 41-year old Satomura co-founded SENDAI Girls’ Pro Wrestling and has worked for several indie promotions both in her native Japan and the US.
She had previously debuted for WWE in 2018 at the second Mae Young Classic where she made it to the semi-finals before being defeated by the eventual winner, Toni Storm.
The official announcement from the WWE also includes three more talents: Tony Gill, Metahan Kocabasoglu, and Bailey Matthews.
Gill, an Anglo-Indian, is actually a former Impact Wrestling star. He worked for Impact in 2018 under the name Gursinder Singh as part of the stable called the Desi Hit squad.
Kocabasoglu, is a German of Turkish heritage. He is known for being a wXw Champion where he already faced off against NXT UK Champion WALTER as well as Ilja Dragunov and NXT’s Timothy Thatcher.
Matthews is a relatively new talent with an impressive heritage. Billed from Blackpool, England, he is the son of NXT General Manager William Regal.
