Survivor Series is on Sunday night and it’s billed as the one night a year when Raw and SmackDown go head to head, so much like in recent years, an invasion is already expected.
Last year, The New Day invaded Raw and cost Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose their Tag Team Championships, whilst the rest of the brand then began an entire invasion on SmackDown.
According to recent rumors, Raw superstars are expected to be present on SmackDown Live this week in order to hype their upcoming matches.
The likes of Ronda Rousey, Seth Rollins, AOP, and Brock Lesnar all have matches against SmackDown Live superstars on Sunday night and whilst it’s easy some of these stepping up to help their brand retain their dominance, it’s hard to see any of them working together as a unit.
This time of year is always the most exciting as a member of the WWE Universe since the invasion angle is expected but you can never be sure when WWE will pull the trigger. Last year it was as part of the European Tour but this year it appears to be as part of the final main roster show before the event.
Survivor Series is the penultimate event of the year and it’s one of WWE’s big four which means that the company needs it to deliver.
Over the past few weeks, WWE attendance has been low at many of their events overseas and according to reports, the company is starting to worry about this long term. The only way to combat this is to give the WWE Universe what they want and to continue to push their bigger events.
