Drew McIntyre may have only recently closed the chapter on his feud with Randy Orton over the WWE Championship, but the Scottish star now has a new challenger to keep an eye on.
Former WWE Champion AJ Styles will be the man facing off against McIntyre at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs on December 20th.
This win came after Styles was able to defeat Randy Orton last week on Raw after interference from The Fiend before he came out on top in tonight’s triple threat sudden-death match.
Styles took on Riddle and Keith Lee, who both qualified for the match last week on Raw, and even though it was a hard-fought match with all three men having chances to win, it was Styles who capitalized.
After Riddle was able to clear Keith Lee out of the ring, Styles was in the right place at the right time to land a Phenomenal Forearm and win the chance to fight Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship at TLC.
It was reported earlier in the week that the original plan was for McIntyre to defend against Braun Strowman but the former Universal Champion is struggling with a knee injury.
Styles has since been drafted in, although there is no word on what this says about his chances of becoming WWE Champion once again.
