Sasha Banks won the Raw Women’s Championship a few weeks ago on an episode of Monday Night Raw when Bayley distracted Asuka by attacking Kairi Sane backstage.
Sane has since left WWE and the company has written her out with a career-ending injury following the beatdown, which has given Asuka a personal reason to go after both Banks and Bayley.
Asuka no longer has an ally on Monday Night Raw since her Kabuki Warriors partner has now been taken off TV and it appears that she’s happy to do it alone at SummerSlam, even though it’s likely that The Empress will be forced to handle a two-on-one situation once again at The Biggest Party of the Summer.
Stephanie McMahon made it clear last week that if The Empress of Tomorrow was able to get past the SmackDown Women’s Champion this week on Raw, then she would be handed a rematch for the Championship that she recently lost, at SummerSlam in less than two weeks time.
Bayley obviously wasn’t happy that she had been volunteered for the job to step back in the ring with Asuka but decided that she would try to help her friend even though she was unable to prevent her best friend from defending her title against the former Champion.
Asuka forced Bayley to tap out to the Asuka Lock, much to Banks’ dismay since she was at ringside for the match taking in the action. Bayley will now be forced to defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against the winner of Friday’s tri-band women’s battle royal.
Banks and Bayley have created a number of enemies for themselves in recent weeks across all three brands and all of those women have the opportunity to fight for a chance to challenge for Bayley’s Championship this Friday night.
