Drew McIntyre was forced to miss this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw after testing positive for COVID-19 earlier today but was still able to be part of the show after pre-recording several videos ahead of the show.
McIntyre’s second video segment of the show saw the WWE Champion address Goldberg’s challenge from last week’s episode of Raw.
The former Universal Champion wanted to challenge for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, but Raw came to an end before McIntyre was able to respond due to a few timing issues.
The current Champion accepted the challenge which will now see him put his Championship on the line against the 56-year-old Hall of Famer in just under three weeks’ time.
Despite today’s shocking news, McIntyre is expected to make his return to WWE before the first pay-per-view of the year, where the next challenger for his WWE Championship could be confirmed.
Earlier in the night, McIntyre addressed his recent positive test result and confirmed that he had no symptoms and was one of the fortunate ones.
At present, it is unknown when McIntyre caught the virus or how long he had been suffering from it when it was diagnosed.
