Just 12 months ago, the WWE Universe was treated to one of the biggest surprises in Royal Rumble history when Edge made his return after almost a decade on the sidelines.
The Rated R Superstar didn’t go on to win the match, but he did make quite the impact and later stepped into a feud against former tag team partner Randy Orton.
The two men collided at Backlash back in June which saw Edge tear his bicep and once again forced back on the sidelines.
In the seven months that Edge has been missing from WWE TV, Orton has moved on to a feud with The Fiend which has left Edge in a strange position.
The former World Champion returned as part of a promo this week on Raw where he revealed that he was now cleared to return to action and will be entering the Royal Rumble this Sunday night.
Edge won the annual Royal Rumble match back in 2010 so he knows exactly what it takes to overcome 29 other men and could now be seen as a dark horse in the match.
There are now 17 men officially announced for the Royal Rumble match with less than a week to go until The Road To WrestleMania officially begins.
