Rey Mysterio took on Murphy for the first time this week on Raw, with a place in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match on the line. It was the most hotly anticipated match on Raw this week and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
This was Murphy’s first match since suffering an injury ahead of WrestleMania, but the Disciple of the Monday Night Messiah was unable to overcome the threat of WWE legend Rey Mysterio since the Master of the 619 qualified for the Money in the Bank ladder match at his expense. The match could have gone either way in places and even though the narrative made sense for Murphy to walk out the victor, it was Mysterio who took the final place for the Raw brand in the men’s ladder match.
Drew McIntyre was forced to take on Angel Garza this week, just a week after defeating United States Champion Andrade. Even though Zelina Vega, Austin Theory and Andrade were all at ringside, it was still a walk in the park for Drew McIntyre who easily brushed aside Angel Garza to send another message to Vega, who continues to attempt to be a thorn in the side of the new WWE Champion.
McIntyre may have his sights set on Seth Rollins next month at Money in the Bank, but the Claymore Kick once again lead him to victory, before The Scottish star decided to send an emphatic statement to Raw’s newest team by delivering a second Claymore to Garza following his win, and then delivered one to Austin Theory for good measure.
It’s been made obvious tonight on Raw that the issues between these stars are far from over, and following Money in the Bank, McIntyre’s next challenger could be part of Raw’s fastest rising trio.
