WWE travels to the Middle East this Thursday ahead of Super ShowDown and this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw was pointed towards the show. One of the matches that were already announced for WWE’s trip to Saudi Arabia was the Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet match between Bobby Lashley, Rusev, Erick Rowan, R-Truth, AJ Styles and Andrade with the winner taking home the Tuwaiq trophy.
Interestingly, just days before the match is set to take place, R-Truth presented a special episode of Truth TV this week on RAW where it was revealed that Rey Mysterio would be replacing Rusev in the match so The Bulgarian Brute wouldn’t be making the trip. There was no reason given as to why Rusev was replaced but it’s believed that this could be linked to the fact that he is still yet to sign a new WWE contract.
The women of Monday Night Raw will not be part of Super ShowDown so the build-up to their match at Elimination Chamber continued with a contract signing that included all six women who will be inside the structure. The contract was signed, but it was then made apparent that there are a few issues between the women inside this match. Natalya and Asuka have unfinished business, as do Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott, which left Sarah Logan looking lost in the ring, while Shayna Baszler allowed everyone else to fight amongst themselves.
It was only after the ring was cleared that Becky Lynch came to claim her pound of flesh from Baszler, and the two women then brawled as WWE took the program to an ad break. The women had already been split when the show returned, but it showed that there will definitely be some combustible elements inside the women’s Elimination Chamber match on March 8th.
