Friday night on SmackDown, Bayley and Sasha Banks became two-time Women’s Tag Team Champions when they were able to get the better of Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross.
Their recent victory means that Banks and Bayley will now be required to appear on all three WWE brands and defend their newly won titles against all challengers.
It began this week on Raw when Banks and Bayley appeared to set up their match at Backlash. It appears that Cross and Bliss will be handed their rematch, but Billie Kay and Peyton Royce will be part of the match after their recent issues with the former Champions.
This week, Kay and Royce were part of a triple threat match that pitted the new Champions up against The IIconics and the mismatched team of Charlotte and Asuka.
The Empress of Tomorrow and the former NXT Women’s Champion were the ones who came out on top when Asuka was able to force Kay to tap to the Asuka lock.
At WrestleMania last year, The IIconics were able to defeat Banks and Bayley to win their first Championships, which was also a multi-person Tag Team match. Could history repeat itself this weekend at Backlash?
