Ronda Rousey was one of the most dominant women in the UFC throughout her time there, but she was never able to cross paths with Cris Cyborg. This would have been a dream match inside The Octagon for many UFC fans, but now it appears that it could go down inside a WWE ring instead.
According to Joe Peisich from the Barnburner Fired Up podcast, WWE is still looking at Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey for WrestleMania 35 but they are also in talks with Cris Cyborg to see if a dream match can become a reality.
“WWE is in current negotiations with Cyborg to fight Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania,” he said via Ringsidenews.
Whilst this would be a fantastic match for the WWE Universe to see, the logistics of pulling it together could be hard for WWE since Cyborg hasn’t got a wrestling background and would now only have around six months to train and prepare for a singles match on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
UFC would probably allow Cyborg to wrestle as part of the show, which wouldn’t be a problem for WWE.
The issue would be the fact that this would have to a be a wrestling match because it’s hard to believe that the company would run the risk of allowing their biggest female star to get injured in a match of this calibre.
As already stated, WWE has been pushing for Charlotte Flair vs Ronda Rousey ever since her Royal Rumble debut, which is why neither woman has crossed paths in the ring yet. WWE wants to build this up to the point where it’s the best female wrestler in WWE up against Rousey and Charlotte could easily be seen as her toughest task.
