Cesaro and Sheamus are finally back in the SmackDown Tag Team Championship picture and face The New Day this weekend in Australia, but ahead of their match, the duo has been taunted by their own employers, who shared the following on Instagram earlier today.
The interesting thing to point out here is the fact that Cesaro and Sheamus haven’t won a pay-per-view match since WrestleMania because they haven’t had one.
The last time the duo competed on “pay-per-view” was just weeks after WrestleMania when they challenged Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt for the vacant Raw Tag Team Championships at The Greatest Royal Rumble.
This event isn’t technically classed as an official WWE pay-per-view which means that Cesaro and Sheamus haven’t had a pay-per-view match since April. Ever since the duo was drafted over to SmackDown Live as part of the Superstar Shake-up, luck has been against them and there were reports that the creative team for the blue brand had nothing for them.
This is the first time that they have been in the SmackDown Tag Team Championship picture since the duo returned to WWE TV back in July but were unable to win the first Tag Team Tournament, which saw The New Day go on to face The Bludgeon Brothers.
Erick Rowan’s injury allowed The New Day to step back in and take the titles and Cesaro and Sheamus are their challengers this weekend.
If rumors are to be believed, this stat won’t be improving for Cesaro and Sheamus in the coming days since there aren’t any title changes expected in Australia, so it will be six months without a win on pay-per-view for The Bar.
