Bayley successfully defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against The Sassy Southern Belle Lacey Evans at the Royal Rumble when she was able to use the tights to her advantage and secure the pinfall when Evans missed the moonsault from the top rope.
Evans’ seven-year-old daughter Summer was at ringside to cheer her mother on once again and even became involved in the match at one point, but sadly it wasn’t to be for Evans who still awaits her first Championship in WWE.
Sasha Banks wasn’t by Bayley’s side at the Rumble either since rumors are now circulating regarding her current status since it’s thought that The Boss is currently struggling with an undisclosed injury.
Bayley wasn’t the only Champion to successfully retain as part of the Rumble card since The Fiend put the Universal Championship on the line in a strap match against Daniel Bryan in what was by far the most brutal match of the night.
It’s been an interesting feud between Bryan and Wyatt over the past few months which has linked back to the fact that Bryan and Wyatt feuded back in 2014 and the former World Champion actually lost to Wyatt at the Royal Rumble six years ago.
Lightning does strike twice in the same place it seems since Wyatt was once again victorious when he delivered a chokeslam to Bryan in a Mandible Claw position. It was a match that included a number of shocking moments including Wyatt whipping Bryan with the strap for around five minutes and leaving welts all over his back. It’s worth noting that The Fiend wrestled for the first time without the Red Light, which didn’t seem to be the source of his power after all.
At the end of the match, Bryan was left in the ring on his own as the medical staff tended to the wounds all over him that showed him that he had been to war with The Fiend.
