Becky Lynch successfully defended her RAW Women’s Championship at the Royal Rumble when she took on Asuka in what was a match that Lynch felt she needed to win after Asuka defeated her at last year’s Rumble pay-per-view.

Lynch well and truly took the match to the next level against Asuka as she proved why she was the most talked about female wrestler of 2019 by finally defeating The Empress of Tomorrow. The end came when Lynch delivered a kick that was so hard it saw Asuka spit out her Green Mist and then Lynch was able to lock in the Dis-Arm-Her for the submission victory.

A lot can change in a year since it was Asuka who locked in the Asuka Lock for the victory over Lynch last year. The Man then went on to win the Women’s Royal Rumble but never forgot her first big loss of 2019.

Lynch’s win has completed the entire clean sweep for title defenses tonight since the night began with Andrade able to retain his United States Championship on the kickoff show when he overcame the threat of Humberto Carrillo. Bayley was then successful in her title defense against Lacey Evans and The Fiend looked to some new moves and a new light in the ring when he was able to defeat Daniel Bryan.

It’s been an interesting night, which has seen Roman Reigns come out on top in his Falls Count Anywhere match and Charlotte Flair become the third Women’s Royal Rumble winner, but of course, there is still the main event to go and with a number of surprise spots still open, the match really could be anyone’s.

Breaking news ahead of the match was that Lashley and Rusev were taken out of the Rumble after a brawl kicked off backstage.
