Adam Pearce and Roman Reigns kicked off this week’s episode of SmackDown in order to announce the Universal Championship match at Elimination Chamber.
Paul Heyman made it clear that Reigns wasn’t contractually obligated to defend his Championship inside the structure which left Pearce to announce a match for a shot at the Universal Championship.
Pearce then stated that six men would step inside the structure for a chance to challenge Reigns for the Universal Championship later the same night.
The WWE official stated that Jey Uso and Kevin Owens wouldn’t be forced to qualify, and added them to the Elimination Chamber match.
King Corbin and Sami Zayn were able to qualify in a tag team match where they defeated Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler then took on Cesaro and Daniel Bryan for the final two slots in the Chamber.
Despite enduring a beatdown at the hands of Seth Rollins, Cesaro was able to take part in the main event match and helped Brayn to qualify for the Elimination Chamber match.
It was The Swiss Superman who picked up the victory for his team when he locked Dolph Ziggler into the Sharpshooter.
After the match, five of the men from the match brawled before Kevin Ownes made his way to the ring and handed out Stunners to send a message to Roman Reigns.
