AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan collided in the final of the Intercontinental Championship tournament and saw The Phenomenal One lift the title for the first time in his career.
It was an incredible match between the two former Indy stars that took up much of this week’s episode of SmackDown and showed the depth that the blue brand currently has on its roster.
Styles has lifted many Championships since his WWE debut back in 2016 including the WWE and United States Championships, but he has been unable to claim the Intercontinental Championship in his four years in WWE.
Back in April, Styles lost a huge Boneyard Match to The Undertaker before his OC teammates Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were released from the company.
This left AJ Styles with no direction on Monday Night Raw, so the star was drafted over to SmackDown to compete in the IC title tournament.
The Championship has breathed new life into Styles career and following his win, he went on to claim that he is the best WWE Champion that the WWE Universe has ever seen, which is quite the claim to make with the likes of Braun Strowman and Drew McIntyre currently holding the company’s main titles.
