This week’s episode of SmackDown saw the final qualifying matches for Money in the Bank take place, with the first match pitting former Money in the Bank winner Carmella up against Mandy Rose.
Carmella won the first-ever Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match back in 2017 before then going on to win the rematch on SmackDown since at the time she had James Ellsworth in her corner. This means that Carmella is listed as the only ever two-time Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match winner and now The Princess of Staten Island could be about to make that a third.
Carmella took on Mandy Rose this week and while many fans believed that it would be Rose stepping into the contract ladder match, it was Carmella who walked out victorious thanks to a distraction from Sonya Deville.
Rose’s former Fire & Desire teammate came out to remind God’s Greatest Creation that this time last year she handed Rose the chance to be in the Money in the Bank ladder match because she gave up her own spot, that’s how much of a good friend she was.
Deville remained on the ramp but her constant commentary and threat to head down to the ring was enough to provide a distraction to allow Carmella to deliver a superkick and pick up the victory. After the match, Deville headed down to the ring and attacked Rose while threatening to destroy every inch of her pretty face, before she was pulled off by WWE officials.
It’s safe to assume that the issues between the former Fire & Desire teammates are far from over and now neither woman will be competing in the Money in the Bank contract ladder match, there’s nothing standing in the way of the duo finally settling their differences.
