There was some strange booking this week on SmackDown which saw Otis and Chad Gable take on Rey Mysterio and his son Dominik with Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode on commentary.
Last week, there were teases that Gable and Otis could be looking to turn heel following their loss to The Street Profits, but this week they were handed Rey Mysterio and Dominik as opponents.
Mysterio and Dominik lost to Sami Zayn and King Corbin last week when they looked to qualify for the Elimination Chamber match, but were seemingly still in the equation when it came to a future Tag Team Championship match.
The match was a short one that ended via disqualification when Otis splashed Rey Mysterio and Chad Gable refused to leave the ring, which left the referee with no choice but to disqualify the team.
Otis didn’t stop the attack after the bell and even delivered a splash to Rey Mysterio following the match from the second rope.
Mysterio had to then be helped to the back by his son Dominik as Otis and Chad Gable seemingly solidified their heel turn on SmackDown.
Interestingly, The Street Profits didn’t appear on this week’s episode of SmackDown but could be the target of The Alpha Academy moving forward.
