This week’s SmackDown was main evented by a tag team match that saw King Corbin and Dolph Ziggler take on Daniel Bryan and The Miz after Corbin made some controversial comments about The Miz and Bryan’s skills as parents earlier in the show.
It was an entertaining match as Daniel Bryan returned to his face gimmick and received a huge pop from the WWE Universe, but even though The Miz and Daniel Bryan came out on top to exact some level of revenge on Corbin for his comments, the outcome wasn’t actually important.
It was revealed following the submission win for The Miz, that Daniel Bryan, King Corbin, and Miz would all face off next Friday Night on SmackDown with the winner being given the opportunity to fight The Fiend Bray Wyatt for the Universal Championship.
All three men have some issues with The Fiend, The Miz may have been defeated by Fun House Bray Wyatt at TLC, but he wants to face The Fiend to gain a small level of revenge for the psychological scars that his daughter Monroe Sky has suffered since the puppets invaded her crib last week.
Daniel Bryan’s last outing against The Fiend saw him lose all of his hair and step back in time to his American Dragon persona, which is why he wants to step back in the ring with the monster, while King Corbin believes that the fact that he’s had a fantastic 2019 which was rounded off with a win over Roman Reigns at TLC, is enough for him to be given a Universal Championship shot.
SmackDown’s final episode of 2019 could be an interesting once since this week’s show ended with The Fiend laughing at his three challengers. Will one of his challengers be the one laughing heading into 2020?
