WWE SmackDown: Kevin Owens Replaces Adam Pearce in Universal Championship Match at Royal Rumble

Roman Reigns ensured that WWE Producer Adam Pearce was his Royal Rumble opponent last week on SmackDown and decided to take it a step further this week.

After speaking to his Special Counsel Paul Heyman, Reigns made the decision to add a stipulation to their upcoming match.

As part of a backstage segment with Paul Heyman, Sonya Deville, and Adam Pearce, it was revealed that the match would be No Disqualification. Pearce seemingly wasn’t bothered by the added stipulation and signed the contract straight away.

Despite signing the contract, Roman Reigns decided that he wanted a Last Man Standing match instead, and then sent Paul Heyman back to get another signature.

Adam Pearce was forced to head to the ring and sign the contract as part of an official contract signing with The Tribal Chief. After he signed on the dotted line, Pearce revealed he was injured and brought out a replacement.

Pearce said that, as per the contract, he could find a suitable replacement for the match since he can’t be medically cleared. Kevin Owens then made his way out and signed the contract for the match on the stage as Reigns looked on in horror.
