Kevin Owens turned heel on Kofi Kingston in a shocking manner on the latest edition of SmackDown Live.

Last week, Owens joined The New Day as an honorary babyface member under the name Big O thereby replacing Big E who is currently sidelined with injury. It didn’t take KO long to turn heel.

In the main event of Tuesday’s show, reigning WWE Champion Kofi battled Shinsuke Nakamura in a non-title match. After about 20 minutes, Rusev‘s interference caused the match to end via disqualification.

Kingston was saved by Xavier Woods and Owens and the babyfaces cleared house. However, all positivity wouldn’t last long as Owens superkicked Kofi right in the middle of the ring.

The former Universal Champion subjected Kofi to a heavy beatdown. KO picked up the WWE Title and badmouthed the helpless babyface champion.

Owens then tried to powerbomb Kingston on the apron but Woods came to the rescue. A livid KO capped things off by powerbombing Woods on the apron instead.

While it wasn’t officially announced on SmackDown Live, it’s very likely that WWE is booking Kingston vs. Owens with the title on the line at the upcoming Money In The Bank pay-per-view (May 19th).
