Last week on SmackDown, The Revival won the opportunity to face The New Day at TLC for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, but while Kofi Kingston was busy picking a fight with King Corbin this week, The Revival were out to make a statement against Shorty G and Mustafa Ali.
Despite the fact that Dash Wilder had some issues on his way to the ring this week, the duo was obviously booked on SmackDown this week so that it could be announced that their match against The New Day this weekend will be a ladder match. Unlike traditional matches, it was revealed that all four men will be in the ring at the same time and there will be no need for tags as the two teams battle to climb the ladder and lift the titles.
Ahead of the match, The Revival defeated the up and coming team of Shorty G and Ali when they were able to hit The Shatter Machine on Mustafa Ali out of nowhere. This means that as it stands the TLC card currently has two TLC matches, a tables match and a ladder match.
The Revival make their debut at TLC this weekend, but The New Day will have all of the experience especially since Kofi Kingston has been in a record number of ladder matches throughout his career.
It will be interesting to see who walks into 2020 with the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, especially since Kingston’s eight-second WWE Championship loss to Brock Lesnar on SmackDown’s premiere episode on the FOX Network was mentioned this week on SmackDown, which means that he could be back on the WWE Championship path in the new year.
This is more likely now since this loss hasn’t been mentioned over the past few weeks and WWE has tried to brush it under the rug over the past few weeks.
