WWE SmackDown: Nikki Cross Becomes Number One Contender For The SmackDown Women’s Championship

This week’s episode of SmackDown kicked off with an interesting announcement from Women’s Champion Bayley, who revealed that tag team partners Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss would be forced to face off for the chance to challenge for the SmackDown Women’s Championship next week as part of the show.

Bliss and Cross were on the entrance ramp when the news was delivered and Cross then shoved her long-time friend to make it clear that she wanted a chance at that Championship. Cross came up short at Extreme Rules when Sasha Banks interfered and hit Cross with her metal rings.

The two women put on a fantastic match this week and even found the time to take out Banks and Bayley at ringside as they sat on commentary before Cross was able to roll up Little Miss Bliss with an inside cradle to earn herself another shot at Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship.

The Boss and Bayley may be holding all of the gold in WWE at present, but after Raw and SmackDown next week, the Women’s Tag Team Champions could be left clutching onto just the tag title belts, since it was announced on Monday Night that Banks could face off against Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship.
