WWE SmackDown: Tag Team Championships to Be Defended in a Tables Match at Extreme Rules?

The New Day defended their SmackDown Tag Team Championships against Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event of this week’s episode of SmackDown. In recent weeks, Kofi Kingston and Big E have stepped into a feud with the heels who were once seen as the followers of Sami Zayn.

With a new attitude, Cesaro and Nakamura have climbed the ranks in the Tag Team Division and were handed a golden opportunity this week.

The New Day proved why they are seen as WWE’s shining light when it comes to tag team wrestling and were never in any danger of losing their Championships, but it could be a different story at Extreme Rules next weekend.

The match ended in a brawl when the referee lost control of the match and Cesaro and Nakamura beatdown the Champions before putting Big E on a table and power-bombing Kingston through his friend from the top rope.

The Horror Show at Extreme Rules has so far only had gimmick matches added and it’s believed that the SmackDown Tag Team Championships could be defended in a Tables match if the company decide to give Cesaro and Nakamura a rematch on pay-per-view next weekend.
