<p>The penultimate episode of SmackDown ahead of the 2020 Royal Rumble definitely didn&#8217;t disappoint as the action came in thick and fast and continued to set up some interesting matches for next weekend&#8217;s pay-per-view.</p>

<p><strong>Lacey Evans</strong> attacked <strong>Sasha Banks</strong> backstage which led to The Boss not being medically cleared to compete, so <strong>Bayley </strong>stepped in her place and was pinned by The Sassy Southern Belle after a Women&#8217;s Right. Evans will now challenge The SmackDown Women&#8217;s Champion at the Royal Rumble in just nine days&#8217; time.</p>

<p><strong>Shorty G</strong> was backstage and he questioned why <strong>Sheamus </strong>targetted him upon his return to the company a few weeks ago, which lead to Sheamus interrupting the King of the Ring finalist before setting up a match between the two stars for the Rumble as well.</p>

<p>After the events that kicked off the show when <strong>Daniel Bryan</strong> finally took <strong>The Fiend</strong> by surprise before challenging him to a <strong>Strap Match</strong> next weekend, it appears that the masked star accepted the challenge since it&#8217;s also been made official that their Universal Championship match will now be contested under the strap match stipulation.</p>



<p>The odds looked to be stacked against <strong>Roman Reigns</strong> as he took on <strong>Robert Roode</strong> in a tables match to choose the stipulation of his match against <strong>King Corbin</strong> next weekend. <strong>Dolph Ziggler </strong>and Corbin looked to get involved and help Roode come out on top, but <strong>The Usos</strong> even the odds and in the end, it was Roman who speared Roode through a table. </p>



<p>Reigns then went on to state that he had chosen the <strong>Falls Count Anywhere</strong> stipulation for their upcoming match at The Rumble. Reigns and Corbin will also be participants in the Royal Rumble match, a match that <strong>Braun Strowman</strong> also declared himself for earlier in the night.</p>
