This week on SmackDown, Drew Gulak was able to defeat Shinsuke Nakamura in a short encounter, which now means that Daniel Bryan will be handed an Intercontinental Championship match against Sami Zayn next weekend at WrestleMania.
Gulak and Bryan have been a formidable pairing over the past few weeks and now the former Cruiserweight Champion has been able to step up their friendship by handing Bryan the Championship match that he had deserved for a number of months.
Sami Zayn became Champion back at Elimination Chamber when he was able to defeat Braun Strowman in a handicap match that also included Cesaro and Nakamura.
This wasn’t the only Championship added to WrestleMania on SmackDown since The New Day and The Usos collided in the main event to decide who would go on to face The Miz and John Morrison for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
After the Champions interfered in the match and it was ruled a No Contest, Michael Cole announced that Miz and Morrison would be defending their Championships against both teams in a Triple Threat Ladder Match instead.
Recent rumors suggest that The Miz won’t be part of WrestleMania, but this update is yet to be added to WWE TV.
This week’s SmackDown also included the latest chapter in the feud between John Cena and Bray Wyatt, since many of the WWE Universe expected the match to be one of the bouts that were recorded from an undetermined location. The former Universal Champion made this news official this week when he challenged the former 16-time World Champion to a FireFly FunHouse Match, which is believed to be a match similar to his House of Horrors bout against Randy Orton back in 2017.
The match is rumored to be set to include both The Fiend and Fun House Bray Wyatt.
