This week’s episode of SmackDown was dedicated to the career of The Undertaker after The Deadman announced that he was hanging up his wrestling boots after 30 years in WWE.
After the company decided to replay the Boneyard match between AJ Styles and The Deadman from WrestleMania back in April, SmackDown returned to it’s scheduled programming.
One of the matches that were scheduled to take place tonight saw Alexa Bliss, Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross, and Dana Brooke face off for the chance to wrestle Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules.
Of course, Sasha Banks opted to challenge Asuka for the Raw Women’s Championship at Extreme Rules this past week on Raw, so Bayley’s challenger was decided in this fatal four-way match-up.
The match was much more competitive than many fans expected but in the end, it was a shock victory for Nikki Cross after Dana Brooke was hit with a Women’s Right and Cross ran in to roll up Evans.
This means that it will be Nikki Cross vs Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship on July 19th. This could be Nikki Cross’ first Women’s Championship since the former NXT star has only ever lifted the Women’s Tag Team Championships in WWE.
