The Money in the Bank pay-per-view takes place next month and the build-up to the show continued this week on SmackDown as the Women’s Division on the blue brand looked to join Shayna Baszler, Asuka and Nia Jax in the Women’s contract match. Dana Brooke took on Naomi in the first women’s qualifier of the night and surprisingly it was the Flex Appeal that was able to overcome the multi-time Women’s Champion.
Naomi and Brooke put on an interesting match before Brooke was able to take advantage and secure one of the biggest shocks in qualifying so far.
While Brooke looks forward to her shot at the Money in the Bank contract, WWE announced that this year’s matches would be a little different since superstars would be forced to “climb the corporate ladder at Money in the Bank.
It appears that superstars will begin their journey on the bottom floor of WWE’s corporate building before being forced to battle it out with every other star in the match and make their way to the top floor of the building where they will have the chance to win the contract.
There were rumors that WWE were looking to film part of the show on the roof of their building but now it’s finally become clear that this year’s Money in the Bank will have the chance to become the most unique pay-per-view in years.
The qualifying matches will continue tonight on SmackDown, and it appears that the Women’s Championship match between Bayley and Tamina could be announced in the near future. Lacey Evans became a surprise ally for Tamina in her match against Sasha Banks and helped her to secure the victory which now means that she will be given a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship in the future.
