WWE has suspended some of their Superstars from streaming on Twitch for the time being.
A few weeks ago, WWE announced that it’ll now own its wrestlers’ online accounts and will give a small cut for the revenue they generate. This recent development in WWE caused a lot of controversies.
Recently, WWE Superstar AJ Styles gave a heartwarming message to his fans that he’ll have to suspend streaming on Twitch for some time.
“Everyone, I want to thank you all for the great memories on Mixer and Twitch. I will cherish these memories and I love everyone one [sic] of you that have made this possible and supported me. As many of you know WWE is making some changes regarding streaming. We will see what the future holds in that regard. With that being said I will be suspending Stylesclash stream.”
“This isn’t goodbye, but this is see you sometime in the future. We will leave discord open, but since it won’t be monitor5ed we will be making changes. Chris or I will let you know what that looks like once we figured it out. If you see me at arenas or wherever be sure to let me know you’re part of the phenomenal family. Again this isn’t the end it’s just a phase. Thank you again for your support.”
Other wrestlers such as Cesaro, Mia Yim, Aleister Black, and Zelina Vega are a few to name that will no longer be streaming online.
Going forward, WWE will be managing their wrestlers’ accounts on third-party sites and will give a small commission of the revenue they generate.
This decision hasn’t been taken gently by the critics, and only time will tell if it’ll cause huge trouble to the company or not.
