The Colóns will make their first in-ring appearance on Tuesday since the duo went off WWE television in January.

On Sunday, General Manager of WWE SmackDown Live, Paige took to Twitter to announce that this week’s show of the blue brand will be graced by a Triple Threat Match featuring The Bar, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and The Colóns.

This match will be the first of two Triple Threat tag team matches. The winner of each match will go on to face the other to determine the #1 Contender for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship. The to-be-determined #1 Contender will challenge The New Day for the titles at the Hell In A Cell pay-per-view in September.

Epico and Primo haven’t wrestled as a team in 7 months after Epico was sidelined with a shoulder injury in January. Primo has worked a number of live events in recent months but has been kept off television for the most of 2018.

Epico and Primo, real-life cousins, wrestled as Los Matadores in WWE from 2013-2015 before debuting with a fresh gimmick —The Shining Stars (2016-2017). The duo then dubbed themselves as The Colóns and has been wrestling under the name since 2017.

The New Day now stands as the 5-time WWE Tag Team Champions after defeating The Bludgeon Brothers on SmackDown Live last week. Originally there wasn’t any plan to hand over the titles to The New Day anytime soon, but WWE was forced to make this move due to a bicep injury suffered by Eric Rowan at SummerSlam.

It was earlier noted that Rowan and Luke Harper were not scheduled to drop the SmackDown Tag Team Championship last week had Rowan not suffered the bicep injury at SummerSlam. WWE’s forced changes in all the plans slated for The Bludgeon Brothers might see the immediately ex-tag champs return in the near future to challenge whoever is holding “their” titles.

Fans are speculating that it will be The New Day against whom The Bludgeon Brothers will return to reclaim their championship gold.

The announcement is yet to be made as to which tag teams will be competing in the second Triple Threat Match.
