WWE presented the season premiere of RAW last night and brought out several surprises throughout the night. One of those moments included Brock Lesnar laying the smackdown on Rey Mysterio and his son Dominick.
Brock Lesnar returned to RAW for the first time since losing his Universal Championship at SummerSlam and proceeded to wreak havoc in the opening segment of the night. Mysterio was forced out of his Universal Championship with Seth Rollins following this attack, and his son was taken to a local medical facility.
Paul Heyman explained Lesnar’s actions to Charly Caruso later and had some interesting choice of words. Heyman talked about Lesnar’s dominance in MMA and talked about ‘wannabe guys’ in MMA who can’t do anything to Lesnar.
According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer, this was intentionally done by WWE to set up a possible feud between Lesnar and Cain Velasquez. It was recently reported that WWE had a meeting with Velasquez, and could sign him to a deal.
“Okay, so that promo he talked about tough guys and mixed martial arts and fighters… that was a promo for Cain [Velasquez] now, whether that’s gonna end up happening.”
“The whole segment with Rey and everything, you beat up the Mexican and the Mexican superhero badass comes in, that’s kinda where the idea was behind everything. Cain has not signed either so they have an idea. Obviously it’s Brock and Cain and this stuff was in that direction, but it may end up not happening, but that’s the destination in theory that this is headed toward.”
Cain Velasquez and Brock Lesnar met during their time in UFC, in which Velasquez reigned supreme. Velasquez recently transitioned to professional wrestling and delivered an exceptional performance in his debut.
Imagine Velasquez debuting in WWE to save his fellow Mexican from Brock Lesnar!
