This Monday Night on Raw, Roman Reigns is expected to move over to the SmackDown Live brand to avoid a face vs face feud with Seth Rollins over the Universal Championship, but this hasn’t prevented WWE from teasing what could be an interesting encounter between the two former Shield members.
For April 15th’s episode of the show, the following was released on as an official Raw preview.
“Will Reigns look to challenge his Shield-brother Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship — the very title he was forced to relinquish in October — or does he have another conquest in mind?”
Roman Reigns was forced to relinquish the Universal Championship back in October when he revealed that he was struggling with leukemia and needed some time away from the ring to get the disease under control.
Brock Lesnar then defeated Braun Strowman at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia to win back the Championship that he only lost a few months before at SummerSlam.
In the months that followed, Seth Rollins became the number one contender for the Championship when he won the 2019 Royal Rumble and then went on to win the title at WrestleMania.
Roman Reigns made his return to WWE a few months ago and was able to announce that he was cancer free, but rather than going after the title that he never actually lost, Reigns set his sights on Drew McIntyre, but the WWE Universe was well aware that at some point his attention would turn to Seth Rollins.
Rollins started off his tenure as Universal Champion by defending the title against the new WWE Champion Kofi Kingston last week on Raw in a “Winner Takes All” match, so it’ll be interesting to see if Reigns and Rollins are given the opportunity to square off as part of the upcoming episode of Raw.
