An Extreme Rules rematch has been set for this week’s episode of SmackDown Live for the WWE United States Championship. Shinsuke Nakamura will have to defend the title against Jeff Hardy on Tuesday.

While the referee wasn’t looking, Nakamura hit Hardy with a low blow before the match kicked off on Sunday. The match got started and Nakamura finished Hardy quickly with the Kinshasa to become the United States Champion for the first time. Following the match, Randy Orton made his much awaited return and stared at Nakamura before attacking Hardy in-between the legs.

While the show was still running, WWE later announced that the Nakamura vs. Hardy rematch will take place on Tuesday but this appears to be an angle to set up Orton vs. Nakamura at SummerSlam.

The match/angle at Extreme Rules came off like they were writing Hardy off TV but we’ll see what goes down on Tuesday night. Hardy had publicly said that he is beat up and has toned his high-flying style down, especially on live events, because of pain in his back.
