Xavier Woods reportedly suffered an Achilles injury as part of WWE’s tour of Australia when the company landed in Sydney on Sunday night.

WWE.com released an official statement, where they revealed that the injury means that Woods will now be unable to finish the Australian tour, although more details of his condition are currently unknown. Woods himself Tweeted about the injury and apologized to Australian fans for the fact that he will be forced to drop out of the rest of the tour.

The injury came mid-way through Woods’ match alongside Big E against The Revival. Woods was whipped into the ropes, but immediately went down clutching his leg or his knee and the referee then threw up the dreaded “X” symbol.

The former Tag Team Champion was later helped to the back by medical staff while Big E continued the match as a handicap before taking the loss to the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Woods and his New Day teammates teamed with Heavy Machinery and were able to defeat The Revival, Bobby Roode, and Dolph Ziggler this past week on SmackDown after being drafted to the show the week before.

The trio has also been announced for the huge nine-team Tag Team Turmoil Match at WWE Crown Jewel next week, a match where Kofi Kingston may have to sub in for Woods if he isn’t cleared for action in time.

The severity of the injury is unknown, but this could keep woods sidelined for as long as months rather than weeks but luckily it has come at a time when Kingston doesn’t need the back up of his teammates as WWE Champion.

Over the past few months, The New Day hs been at the forefront of the action on SmackDown and is expected to continue this trend following SmackDown’s move over to FOX.
