NXT’s yearly tradition of WarGames continued with the third installment of the massively popular matchup inside the unique structure, This year, the women of NXT made history by featuring in the first-ever Women’s WarGames Match.
Apart from these two matches, the PPV featured just two more matches, and overall, the show was rather short but an exciting watch nonetheless. Most of the competitors will take part in the Survivor Series in less than 24 hours after this event, as NXT officially becomes the third brand of WWE.
Overall, all the four matches along with the preshow match delivered on all fronts and made it an enjoyable evening.
We look at how the show went down and give our thoughts on WWE NXT Takeover: WarGames III (2019)
PreShow: Angel Garza vs. Isaiah Scott
The competitors of NXT’s Cruiserweight Division featured in the preshow matchup, which was a rather last-minute addition to the card. The match started off with Scott taking advantage and delivering his offense to the Mexican stalwart.
Garza found his momentum soon and went on a rampage after tearing his own pants off, as is the tradition in his matches. The final rush in the matchup saw Scott deliver a Death Valley Driver on the apron, but couldn’t hold Garza down. Garza finally hit the Wing Clipper for the win.
Result: Angel Garza def. Isaiah Scott via pinfall
Analysis: Both the superstars have received prominent screen-time ever since they took part in the NXT Breakout Tournament earlier this year. Garza recently competed against Lio Rush for the Cruiserweight Championship, and their feud will evidently continue in the coming weeks, after Garza’ win over Scott.
Both the competitors are insanely talented and are NXT’s answer to the high-flying matches featured on AEW every week. It could have easily translated into a perfect PPV match with some more time and was needlessly put on the pre-show.
