AEW Dynamite Results, August 22, 2020

The special pre-empted edition of AEW Dynamite took place on Saturday this week due to TNT hosting NBA matches on Wednesday.

FTR def. Private Party: Tully Blanchard accompanied FTR as they picked up the victory after hitting the Goodnight Express on Marq Quen.

Jon Moxley mocked MJF’s campaign and said he hoped MJF becomes a future star, but it won’t be happening at All Out. MJF, with a neck brace, was frustrated at Moxley and started a petition to get Moxley’s Paradigm Shift banned for their match.

Jungle Express, QT Marshall, and Dustin Rhodes def. Lucha Bros, Butcher, and Blade: A chaotic match saw the babyfaces pick up the win after Jungle Boy rolled up Blade for the three-count.

Post-match, Eddie Kingston walked up to the heels, and took them under their wing, teasing a new faction.

Britt Baker asked Penelope Ford and Kip Sabian to make out somewhere else when Ford suggested a 3-on-1 Handicap Match for All Out between Baker, Ford, Reba and Big Swole.

Orange Cassidy’s in-ring interview was interrupted by Chris Jericho who proposed a Mimosa Mayhem match. Cassidy accepted it, as Inner Circle proceeded to beat him and the Best Friends down.

The Elite vs The Dark Order: Kenny Omega hit the One-Winged Angel on Alan Angels to secure the victory for his team, and proceeded to beat him down after the match as the Young Bucks tried to calm him down.

Backstage, a Tag Team Gauntlet match was announced for next week, as FTR looked to please their new manager Tully Blanchard by getting the gold.

Darby Allin def. Will Hobbs: Allin picked up a quick victory with the Coffin Drop on Hobbs.

Post-match, Taz introduced Ricky Starks dressed as Allin. Starks mocked Allin before Brian Cage attacked Allin, as Starks also joined the beatdown.

Sammy Guevara’s promo was interrupted by Matt Hardy who viciously attacked Guevara, throwing a chair at him similar to how Guevara busted open Hardy a few weeks ago.

NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa debuted on Dynamite and proposed a match between her and Hikaru Shida for All Out.

Ivelisse and Diamante def. The Nightmare Sisters: The Women’s Tag Cup final ended in quick fashion after Ivelisse kicked Allie in the head for the three count.

AEW TNT Championship | Brodie Lee def. Cody (c): In a very shocking turn of events, Lee picked up the victory over Cody in quick fashion, with Cody almost helpless in the match.

Post-match, The Dark Order announced their supremacy, with Lee attacking Arn Anderson, and Anna Jay choking out Brandi Rhodes.
