AEW Dynamite Results, August 5, 2020

The Dark Order def. The Elite and FTR:
The show kicked off with a huge 12-Man Tag Team encounter, which saw lots of action before Mr. Brodie Lee delivered a discus lariat on Page for the win.

Jon Moxley cut a promo on his younger days and how Darby Allin reminded him of himself.

Best Friends def. Santana and Ortiz:
Chuck Taylor and Trent picked up the win, after a sneaky rollup from Trent on Ortiz was enough to secure the three-count.

MJF continued to talk about his ‘campaign’ as he shipped posters all over the world. MJF said it will suck to wrestle a 125-pound superstar (Darby Allin) if he managed to dethrone Moxley.

Matt Hardy cut a promo in the ring about helping younger superstars, before Sammy Guevera attacked him out of nowhere. Guevara hit Hardy with a chair followed by a splash onto a table, which busted him open.

Santana and Ortiz destroyed Best Friends’ van backstage with a variety of opponents, looking frustrated after this loss.

Cody and Matt Cardona def. John Silver and Alex Reynolds:
Matt Cardona’s debut match in AEW resulted in victory after he hit the Radio Silence (Rough Ryder) for the win.

Post-match, Scorpio Sky interrupted Cody, making his intentions for the TNT Championship clear.

Chris Jericho and Orange Cassidy’s debate was hosted by Eric Bischoff. Cassidy didn’t speak much until a question about rising sea levels piqued his interest. The duo then talked about their match next week, before Cassidy was declared the winner of the debate.

Jericho and Jake Hager proceeded to attack Cassidy, before Best Friends made the save.

Big Swole def. Reba: Britt Baker asked her friend Reba to face off against Swole, but she was outclassed in quick fashion after Swole finished the match with a discus forearm.

AEW World Championship | Jon Moxley(c) def. Darby Allin: Both the stars were busted open in the hard-hitting matchup, which saw Moxley retain after the Paradigm Shift. MJF and Wardlow interrupted the match, but Moxley recovered nonetheless.
