AEW Dynamite geared up for the final episode of the year, which will be the Holiday Special edition of Dynamite with a flurry of matches and segments setting up things for next week.
Private Party and Matt Hardy def. Hangman Page and Dark Order
Dark Order’s attempts to recruit Page continued with a team-up in the opening match of the night, with Silver and Reynolds donning cowboy gimmick to match Page. Hardy and Private Party came out on top, as a Gin and Juice was enough to see out their opponents.
Backstage: MJF and Chris Jericho continued sweetening each other up, with Jericho remarking that the Dinner Debonair segment wouldn’t be possible without MJF, while MJF called him his mentor and best friend.
Cody and Brandi Rhodes revealed that they are pregnant, in a segment that took place at their home.
Cody def. Angelico
Cody got the better of one-half of TH2, despite Jake Evans’ constant interruptions. Arn Anderson neutralized Evans, and Cody ended up hitting the Cody Cutter for the pinfall.
Post-match, Team Taz came out to attack Cody and send him out for the paternity leave, but Sting’s music hit and he came in with his baseball bat. The heels retreated, as Sting, Darby Allin and Cody stared each other down.
Backstage: Miro talked about his fine of $75,000 for attacking officials last week, and said AEW ‘owed’ him Orange Cassidy. He hyped his match against Sonny Kiss on Dark and said next week will be the wedding date announcement for Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford.
Kingston Calls Out Archer, PAC Attacks
Eddie Kingston called out Lance Archer who immediately answered. The Butcher and Blade came out in support of Kingston, while Death Triangle backed up Archer. PAC attacked Kingston, which didn’t please Archer too much.
Backstage: Dustin Rhodes promised to take the Dark Order down, and next week will be Evil Uno’s turn.
The Inner Circle def. Varsity Blondes, Best Friends and Top Flight
A huge six-man tag saw the Inner Circle come out on top after a chaotic match saw several brawls break out. The finish saw Jericho hitting Griff Garrison with a bat, followed by Jake Hager hitting F-10 and MJF tagging in for the cover.
Post-match, The Inner Circle tried to inflict more damage but Top Flight made the save.
Backstage: Thunder Rosa called out Baker for her comments, before Reba distracted her, leading to Baker blindsiding Rosa and putting her in a lockjaw.
The Acclaimed def. SCU
The cocky new stars rapped before the match, which didn’t amuse the veterans. They put forth a great performance and ended up picking an upset win after hitting a powerslam on Daniels.
Post-match, The Acclaimed called out Young Bucks and challenged them to a match next week.
Backstage: Top Flight gave props to Jericho and MJF, before challenging them to a match on next week’s special episode of Dynamite.
Big Swole and Serena Deeb def. Ivellise and Diamante
After last week’s backstage attack, the two teams met in a tag encounter, with the faces coming out on top. Swole hit a Tiger Driver and followed it up with a Clearwater Cloverleaf submission on Diamante for the win.
Post-match, Nyla Rose and Vickie Guerrero hit the ring before Red Velvet entered with a chair and cleared it out for the faces.
Backstage: Best Friends called out Miro for costing Orange Cassidy the Diamond Ring match last week. FTR called out Jurassic Express for being a disgrace to the tag division.
No DQ AEW World Title Eliminator Match | Kenny Omega(c) def. Joey Janela
Omega brutally destroyed Janela but failed to get a three-count which frustrated him. Janela rallied a comeback with the help of Sonny Kiss, but Janela ended up hitting two V-Triggers followed by One-Winged Angel for the win.
Post-match, Death Triangle interrupted the celebrations, and PAC said that Fenix will face Omega for the title on Dec 30 episode, as Omega never defeated Fenix in the Eliminator Tournament.
