After two weeks of losing out NXT, AEW looked to bounce back with a strong showing of Dynamite this week.
Event: AEW Dynamite
Date: December 4, 2019
Location: Champaign, IL
Dustin Rhodes & The Young Bucks def. The Inner Circle: A high-intensity matchup started off this week’s Dynamite. After an enthralling matchup to start the night, Matt Jackson won the match for his team after double-teaming Guevara.
Fenix def. Trent: One half of the Lucha Bros took on Trent, and won the matchup after hitting a Blackfire Driver.
Cody talked about the attack by the new stable of the Butcher, Blade and Bunny last week, and challenged them to match. He also talked about how his team has totally disintegrated with his brother, his wife and MJF all busy with their own things.
Cody moved his attention to MJF and offered him lots of money to wrestle against him in the ring. Cody brought out at a briefcase with $50,000 in it and gave $100 to a fan sitting at ringside.
Joey Janela talked about his upcoming match with Jon Moxley and said that he had a point to prove after suffering quite a few losses in recent times. Janela said that he was one of the first individuals to sign up with AEW, but is yet to reach the heights he deserves.
The Dark Order was seen attacking the individual who they tried to recruit into their team a few weeks ago.
Nyla Rose def. Leva Bates: Rose took out the Librarian in quick fashion. Post-match, she tried to attack Bates even further, but Shanna appeared and looked to extract revenge for Rose’s actions last week. Instead, Rose countered and put Shanna through a table yet again. Cameras showed Britt Baker at ringside, in the same pose as her Takeover sighting.
Chris Jericho made his way to the ring with Jake Hager, and introduced the ‘Lexicon of Le Champion’, similar to his List of Jericho in WWE. Jericho started writing the names of wrestlers he won’t be defending his title against before he was interrupted by the Jungle Express.
Jericho and Luchasarus traded barbs on the mic before Jericho ripped Jungle Boy and said he won’t even last 10 minutes in the ring with him.
Kris Statlander def. Hikaru Shida: The latest AEW signing took up a surprising clean pinfall victory over the current number one contender in a quick matchup.
Awesome Kong and Brandi Rhodes entered the ring after the match and invited Statlander to join the Nightmare Collective. A fan from the crowd begged for a chance to join the group, and Kong cut a piece of her hair in the ring.
Pentagon Jr. def Christoper Daniels: The second Lucha Bro was in action against the veteran Daniels. Daniels had a major botch as he went for the Arabian Moonsault, instead he landed on the ramp awkwardly. After a low-blow followed by a piledriver, Pentagon Jr picked up the pinfall victory.
Jon Moxley def. Joey Janela: Moxley continued his mean streak on AEW with yet another victory. The duo produced a fine main-event and Moxley hit two Paradigm Shift on Janela to win the match via pinfall.
The Inner Circle appeared through the crowd, and Jericho held his title up high to close the show.
