After last week’s highly successful Dynamite special Winter is Coming, the company put out yet another packed episode with plenty of high-octane matches and appearances.
The Young Bucks def. TH2
In a high intensity match to start the show, the Tag Team Champions prevailed after hitting the BTE Trigger on the heels for the win. Post-match, The Acclaimed tried to attack the brothers, but SCU neutralized them.
Backstage: MJF promised to break the hearts of the smarks by defeating Orange Cassidy in the Dynamite Diamond Ring match.
Darby Allin called Brian Cage the No.1 contender for his TNT Championship, but noted that Cage has never beaten him up alone. He chuckled after being shown a photo of Sting.
Cody, Arn Anderson and Tony Schiavone hit the ring, as Sting joined them for his first promo in AEW. Sting and Schiavone did some WCW reminiscing, before he exchanged words with Cody. Sting made it clear that he is here for Darby Allin and wants nothing to do with Cody for now.
FTR def. Varsity Blondes
In a quick match, the former champions reigned supreme after hitting the Goodnight Express on Brian Pillman Jr.
Post-match, FTR and Jungle Express had a staredown, as Wheeler pushed Jungle Boy away.
Alex Reynolds and John Silver offered to join Hangman Page in his six man tag against Matt Hardy and Private Party. He agreed but said he won’t join the Dark Order.
Dustin Rhodes def. 10
’10’ of the Dark Order came up short against the veteran, who hit the running bulldog to win the match in quick fashion.
Evil Uno hit the ring and offered a spot to Rhodes in Dark Order, who refused and slapped him in response.
Schiavone had a sitdown interview with Shaq and Brandi Rhodes. Shaq and Rhodes initially got along well, but a taunt by Shaq about Jade Cargill’s attack on her led to Rhodes throwing a drink on the NBA legend’s face and walking out.
The Inner Circle gathered together, as Chris Jericho caught MJF’s lie from last week. Sammy and MJF shook hands, while Jake Hager and Wardlow continued to stare each other down, as the matters seemed to resolve within the group.
Eddie Kingston, The Butcher and The Blade def. Lance Archer, Fenix, Penta El Zero M
The match saw fast action but quickly boiled down to a handicap situation, as Penta was taken to the back. Archer and Fenix tried their best but the heels took advantage of the numbers game. Butcher and Blade hit their double team finisher on Fenix for the win.
Post-match, Archer tried to attack the winners, but eventually they retreated.
Backstage: Red Velvet was attacked by Jade Cargill and Nyla Rose, as Serena Deeb and Big Swole made the save. Ivellise and Diamante joined the action and took out the babyfaces.
Abadon def. Tesha Price
Abadon quickly won the match, after a leg trip followed by dropping Price to the mat.
Post-match, the No.1 contender tried to inflict more damage, but Hikaru Shida made the save with a kendo stick. A strike to the head coulnd’t keep Abadon down as Shida retreated with Price.
Backstage: Chris Jericho affirmed that the group is on the same page, and they will support MJF at ringside in the main-event.
Kenny Omega arrived in a helicopter and marched to the ring with Don Callis, ignoring Schiavone who wanted to question him about his actions. Callis talked about the great heist from last week, and said this was in plan for years.
Dynamite Diamond Ring Match | MJF def. Orange Cassidy
The match was chaotic from start to finish as Best Friends and Inner Circle consistently interefered. Miro appeared out of nowhere and hit Cassidy with a lariat, allowing MJF to apply his submission to win the match and retain the Diamond Ring.
Post-match, Miro continued assaulting anyone who came in his way, as MJF celebrated.
