Event: AEW Dynamite
Date: January 8, 2020
Location:  Southaven, Mississippi

Hangman Page and Kenny Omega def. Private Party: An exciting showdown, both teams showed off their in-ring expertise with plenty of back and forth and nearfalls. Page and Omega grounded Quen with the V-Trigger+Buckshot Lariat combo. The Cleaner followed it up with a one-winged angel to pick up the victory.

Backstage: PAC decimated Michael Nakazawa and threatened Omega to either fight him in the rubber match or the locker room will face his wrath.

AEW Women’s World Championship | Riho (c) def. Kris Statlander: The title match ended in utter chaos and confusion; a verbal confrontation with Brandi Rhodes and distraction from the fourth member of Nightmare Collective, Japanese Deathmatch Legend Dr. Luther allowed Awesome Kong to bulldoze Kris. Shortly after, Statlander attempted a piledriver near the ropes but Kong swept her legs which allowed Riho to retain the title via pinfall.

Post-match, Kong assaulted Statlander. Riho tried to even the odds but took a beating as well. Hikaru Shida, Big Swole and Sonny Kiss made the save and chased the heels to the back.

Sammy Guevara def. Christopher Daniels: Guevara’s cheap shot to Daniels allowed him to control the match till the bald-headed athlete had countered a 450 Splash with an exploder suplex to turn the tide. A timely distraction from Pentagon Jr. eventually cost Daniels the bout as Guevara capitalized on his distracted opponent to score the victory.

Cody and Dustin Rhodes (w/ Arn Anderson) def. Lucha Bros: Both teams remained locked in a stalemate but the Luchadors managed to get the upper hand. Their momentum didn’t last long though; the Rhodes brothers fought back valiantly as Dustin planted Fenix with the final reckoning for the win.

Diamond Dallas Page returns: MJF had barely begun addressing Rhodes in the ring just when DDP walked out to his music and cut a promo on his return. MJF stood there, checking his phone before exploding and trash-talking DDP. The Blade, The Butcher, and The Bunny came down to the ring and a brawl ensued; DDP almost overpowered the heels but a low-blow from MJF brought him to his knees.

Dustin Rhodes, QT Marshall, and some referees ran down to DDP’s aid.

Jurassic Express def. The Best Friends and Orange Cassidy: Another “hands in the pockets” effort from Cassidy proved to be a good dose of entertainment but not great enough to seal the fate of his opponents. Luchasaurus launched Stunt over the top onto Trent and Cassidy while Jungle Boy knocked Taylor out with a Frankensteiner to ring in the final victory of the night.

Jon Moxley answers Jericho’s proposal of joining The Inner Circle: Moxley tricked AEW World Champion Chris Jericho into believing that he had indeed joined The Inner Circle as Jake Hager and Sammy Guevara left the ring.

The reigning IWGP United States Champion quickly made it known that he is coming for the title as he smacked Le Champion over the head with a bottle and planted him with a paradigm shift. Moxley hit a DDT on Guevara and escaped before Hager could get his hands on him.
