AEW presented Dynamite this week with a special agenda on their cards – Chris Jericho 30th Anniversary Celebration.
FTW Championship: Brian Cage (c) def. Will Hobbs
After last week’s attack by Hobbs, Brian Cage defended his FTW title against the newest guy on the roster. Despite a valiant effort, Hobbs fell short and was pinned after a drill claw by Cage.
Post-match, Taz asked Hobbs to join his team, or else his goons would beat him up. Darby Allin made his entrance, which forced Cage and Starks to retreat.
Several names like Sting and Hiroshi Tanahashi congratulated Chris Jericho for his three decades in the business through videos.
AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR def. TH2
Evans and Angelico tried to take down the champions as Young Bucks watched on from the back. FTR successfully defended the title following a superplex by Harwood followed by a splash by Wheeler.
Post-match, Young Bucks superkicked the cameraman filming them. Best Friends entered the arena, and did some comedy before asserting their Number One contender status, ahead of their championship match next week.
Dog Collar Match for AEW TNT Championship: Cody def. Brodie Lee (c)
Cody busted open Lee’s understudy John Silver at the start of the match. Cody and Lee unleashed brutality with the help of the chain, and Cody used the chain to deliver a Cross Rhodes and win back the title.
Post-match, Nightmare Family and Dark Order entered the arena to support their respective leaders. Cody celebrated and laid out an open challenge for next week, which was answered by Orange Cassidy.
Big Swole def. Serena Deeb
Swole, the No.2 contender in the division, took on the latest recruit to the company. Swole took down the veteran with a flurry of strikes for the pinfall victory.
Promo: Jon Moxley cut a promo noting Lance Archer’s prowess in the ring and brought up their match from NJPW. Moxley ended the promo saying Archer only wins the title over his body, taunting Archer’s catchphrase – ‘Everybody Dies’
Chris Jericho and Jake Hager def. Chaos Theory
Jericho celebrated his 30-year anniversary with a win in the main event over the Serpentico and his own foe from WCW, Luther. Jericho hit the Judas Effect on Luther for the win.
Post-match, Jericho went for a promo but MJF interrupted him. Jericho received MJF’s portrait as a gift but smashed it over a clown’s head. There was some tension between Jericho and MJF, but they laughed it out.
The show ended with credits rolling, listing Jericho in every role for the episode including Director and Cameraman.
