AEW Dynamite Results, Sept. 30: FTR and Jon Moxley Defend Their Titles

AEW Dynamite aired this week after Cody Rhodes’ major return last week and Eddie Kingston deciding a challenger for AEW World Champion Jon Moxley.

Darby Allin def. Ricky Starks

The rivalry between “Absolute” Ricky Starks and Darby Allin has been going on for weeks now, and they finally came to a head in the night’s opening grudge match. Brian Cage tried to help out his partner but Will Hobbs cut him off. Allin ended up picking up the win with the Coffin Drop for the three count.

The American Nightmare

Cody Rhodes cut a promo on how he was quickly forgotten after one loss. He said Brodie Lee, Jon Moxley and Hikaru Shida are the only stars worthy of calling themselves the ace.

Cody accepted Brodie Lee’s challenge for a Dog Collar match and a brawl broke out between two parties, with Brandi Rhodes and Anna Jay getting involved too

Backstage: SCU vowed to take down FTR in the match later in the night, as Shawn Spears sarcastically wished them luck for the match, further fuelling the rumors of new Four Horsemen with Spears and FTR.

AEW World Tag Team Championship: FTR def. SCU

Backstage: Tony Schiavone asked AEW Tag Team Champions FTR about a potential showdown with The Young Bucks but they denounced the idea. Matt Superkicked Schiavone out of nowhere leaving the champions surprised.

In-Ring: The former champs tried their best but couldn’t overcome the smart champs, who were guided by Tully Blanchard who proved to be the difference-maker as he swept the leg out from underneath Sky during a suplex attempt, bringing Wheeler down on the challenger and allowing him to score the pinfall victory.

Chris Jericho def. Isiah Kassidy

Jericho faced off against the young high-flyer from Private Party and proved too much for him, taking him down with the Judas Effect.

Post-match, Matt Hardy and Marq Quen saved a potential beat-down. Jericho and Hager attacked Chaos Project instead.

Backstage: Miro introduced Billy Mitchell as they prepared to throw a bachelor party for Kip Sabian.

Backstage: FTR made fun of Best Friends, and called them comedy midcarders, which infuriated the duo.

Orange Cassidy def. 10

Dark Order’s 10 faced off against Cassidy, as Cassidy and Best Friends continued their feud against Dark Order. Freshly Squeezed picked up a quick win with the Orange Punch.

Backstage: MJF walked up to Chris Jericho and gifted the Inner Circle goodies, with Sammy Guevara not getting one. Wardlow later gave it to Guevara, after some tense moments.

Jericho once again offered a spot in the team to MJF, but he laughed it away.

Britt Baker def. Red Velvet

Dr. Britt Baker returned to the squared circle for the first time in months, accompanied by “Reba,” and took down Red Velvet in a lopsided encounter, hitting the neck breaker followed by a stomp for the win.

AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley def. The Butcher

Eddie Kingston lamented on his loss last week and was about to beat up the referee before Jon Moxley interrupted. Kingston announced Moxley’s opponent to be The Butcher, who blindsided the champion.

After a hard-fought matchup, Moxley prevailed with the bulldog choke which he used to win last week against Kingston as well.
