AEW Dynamite Results, September 23: Jon Moxley Defends Title, Cody Returns With a New Look

AEW Dynamite aired this week with some big matches set to take place on the card, including a last-minute AEW World Championship Match between Jon Moxley and Eddie Kingston

Miro and Kip Sabian def. Sonny Kiss and Joey Janela

Miro made his in-ring debut for the company and showed off his destructive avatar. He ended up taking the win for his team after applying the Camel Clutch submission on Sonny Kiss.

Eddie Kingston entered the ring right after the match and cut an intense promo, saying Moxley and him started out in a similar fashion before Moxley sold his virtues for ‘sports entertainment’.

Hangman Page def. Evil Uno

Page continued his run in the singles division with a win over the Dark Order member, as Kenny Omega continued to look on from the commentary table.

Tony Schiavone hesitantly interviewed Young Bucks after their attack on Alex Marvez. Matt Jackson ended up smashing Tony’s phone and threw some cash at him to end the interview.

TNT Championship: Brodie Lee (c) def. Orange Cassidy, Cody Returns

Orange Cassidy looked impressive against the Exalted One but distractions from the other members of the Dark Order were enough for him to end up on the losing side, as Lee retained with the discus lariat.

Post-match, Cody made his return to AEW with dark hair and took out several members of the Dark Order.

Backstage: A furious Lee proposed a dog collar match against Cody, and said Cody has just one week to answer his challenge.

A Prodigal Challenge

Matt Hardy and Private Party entered the ring and named Jericho as the prime suspect for last week’s attack. Jericho came in with the Inner Circle, as Sammy Guevara made his return to AEW.

Hardy proposed a match against Jericho but Quen and Kassidy calmed him down. Kassidy challenged Jericho to a singles match next week and promised to make him his b*tch.

Thunder Rosa and Hikaru Shida def. Ivelisse and Diamante

The two champions teamed up together to take down the AEW Women’s Tag Team Cup winners. Shida hit the running knee on Diamante for the win.

Backstage: Jericho and MJF sucked up to each other and traded fist bumps.

AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) def. Eddie Kingston

The two hard-hitting stars competed for the top prize in the company, but Moxley came out on top after choking out Kingston with the bulldog choke.

Post-match, Lucha Bros attacked Moxley as Will Hobbs and Darby Allin made the save. Ricky Starks came in with Taz and took out Allin, as the heels stood tall to end the segment.
