WWE NXT Results, August 5, 2020

Dakota Kai def. Rhea Ripley:
The Kiwi star won the right to challenge Io Shirai at NXT Takeover: XXX after delivering the GTK to Ripley. Ripley was attacked by Mercedes Martinez during the match, which allowed Kai to secure the win.

Post-match, Kai’s celebrations were cut short after Martinez returned and dropped the winner, busting her open.

Bronson Reed def. Shane Thorne:
Reed continued his march towards the top with yet another win, taking down Thorne with the Tsunami Splash.

Breezango were attacked outside the arena by Legado del Fantasma, who picked up Fandango and put him in their truck.

Backstage, Robert Stone said that Ripley will have to face the brunt of her actions, and his brand isn’t done with her.

Damian Priest def. Ridge Holland and Oney Lorcan:
Priest picked up the victory after hitting a chokeslam on Holland, followed by the Reckoning on Lorcan for the three-count.

Keith Lee def. Cameron Grimes:
Lee had to grind it out against Grimes in the non-title match but ended up picking the victory with a Spirit Bomb.

Karrion Kross appeared on the big screen, still wanting his title match with several NXT stars seen laid out in the background.

Wiliam Regal announced that Dexter Lumis won’t take part in the Ladder Match at Takeover due to injury, and the final two competitors will be determined after two singles matches.

Santos Escobar brought out his goons, who dragged Fandango to the ring. Escobar mentioned Breezango’s mockery of their culture and threatened Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott.

Bronson Reed and Damian Priest exchanged words backstage, as the two participants of the Ladder Match will face-off in a singles match next week.

Tegan Nox def. Indi Hartwell:
Nox picked up a quick victory with a cannonball followed by the Shiniest Wizard.

NXT Tag Team Championships | Imperium(c) vs The Undisputed Era:
The two teams faced off in the title match, where the main story was the feud between Pat McAfee and Adam Cole. The distractions at commentary led to Imperium retaining their titles.

Post-match, things got heated between McAfee and Cole, with McAfee delivering a Punt Kick to the former NXT Champion.
