The final NXT before WarGames opened with a tribute to Pat Patterson, who passed away last night.

After a backstage tussle between Priest and the heel faction, Priest took part in the tag match replacing Curt Stallion. The North American Champion and one of his opponents for this Sunday ended up winning the match. Priest readied to hit Reckoning on Raul Mendonza, but Ruff tagged himself in and hit a frog splash to win the match.

Backstage: Team Candice hyped up the Ladder match in the main event, with Raquel Gonzalez seeming confident for the encounter against opposition team captain, Shotzi Blackheart.

Cameron Grimes def. August Grey

Grimes brought a sack with leather straps ahead of his Strap Match against Dexter Lumis at Takeover. Grimes won the fairly easy match with the Cave-In on Timothy Thatcher’s former student.

Post-match, Grimes beat up Grey with the strap, but didn’t realize Lumis has entered the ring as well. Lumis attacked Grimes, who quickly retreated to the back.

Jake Atlas def. Tony Nese

Atlas dedicated the match to Pat Patterson, his idol. A hard-fought match saw Atlas come out on top over the former Cruiserweight Champion. Atlas dodged the running knee by Nese and hit Cartwheel DDT for the pinfall.

Post-match, Atlas vowed to capture the Cruiserweight Title soon and not lose his momentum.

Kings of NXT Hypes Up WarGames

The Kings of NXT hit the ring, as Pat McAfee dissed the Undisputed Era. He called their night-out video from earlier, the lamest he had ever seen. He praised his team and said they will easily win the match on Sunday.

Backstage: A vignette was aired with Boa and Xia Li practicing with their master, as the mystery woman from last week looked on. Li cried during the training but kept going before the woman put a stop to it. Two mystery men attacked Li and Boa with kendo sticks to end the segment.

Ever-Rise vs. Grizzled Young Veterans never got going as Imperium attacked Ever-Rise. They cut a promo and warned Gibson and Drake to stay away from their territory.

Imperium vs. Grizzled Young Veterans

The two teams from NXT UK had a great encounter with lots of hard-hitting, but an interference from Ever-Rise caused a no-contest. Ever Rise stood tall as the fans booed to end the segment.

Timothy Thatcher’s latest training session was hijacked by Tommaso Ciampa who pretended to be a student. Thatcher and his student ended up attacking Ciampa and put him to sleep.

Backstage: Timothy Thatcher said he will take on Ciampa on Sunday at Takeover, and teach him how to respect others.

Ladder Match for WarGames Advantage | Shotzi Blackheart def. Raquel Gonzalez

A fantastic match between the two participants of the WarGames saw Shotzi come out on top for her team. After battling for a long time, the other members of their teams made their way to ringside where a big brawl broke out.

Gonzalez was on her way to secure the briefcase before Io Shirai, the fourth member of Team Shotzi, appeared out of nowhere and choked her out. Blackheart took advantage and unhooked the briefcase to win the match.

The babyfaces celebrated their victory to end the show.
