A very Gargano Christmas episode of NXT from the Capitol Wrestling Center opened with a Street Fight.
Street Fight for NXT Tag Team Championship | Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan(c) def. Killian Dain and Drake Maverick
After last week’s brawl, the two teams faced off for the titles. Burch and Lorcan were attacked during their entrance by the faces. The champs took out Dain and attacked Drake with a cricket bat, followed by a DDT to win the match.
Post-match, the champs did some trash-talking, as Dain and Drake recovered from the massive assault.
Backstage: Malcolm Bivens hyped up Tyler Rust and said his debut match against Tommaso Ciampa was one for the ages.
Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott def. Jake Atlas
After Scott lost two weeks ago, he showed disrespect to Atlas. During this match, Scott continued the taunting and took the win after hitting the Confidence Boost.
Post-match, Scott kept up the trash talking and offered a handshake, which Atlas refused.
Backstage: Adam Cole and Roderick Strong had great praise for Kyle O’Reilly ahead of his match against Finn Balor at New Year’s Evil. Velveteen Dream interrupted and ate a jab from Cole for his actions.
Backstage: Timothy Thatcher gave props to Ciampa for their battle at Takeover, but said he wants to fight him again.
Rhea Ripley def. Dakota Kai
With Raquel Gonzalez banned from ringside, Ripley showed her strength to take down Kai. Ripley and Gonzalez (who stood on the ramp), locked eyes several times before Ripley delivered a Riptide on Kai for the win.
Post-match, Gonzalez entered the ring and the two traded words before a brawl broke out. Referees and backstage personnel tried to stop them but they kept up the relentless attack.
Johnny Gargano bestowed the name Indi Wrestling on Hartwell, which made the whole family emotional. Hartwell called it better than receiving a PS5.
Backstage: Toni Storm called out Io Shirai, and said the champ is afraid of her because Storm is the best on the roster.
Xia Li and Boa continued their training and seemed to get a hang of it. Li attacked Boa with strikes and both enjoyed the ritual as their masters looked on.
Bronson Reed def. Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis
Reed made his return after two months and made his presence known with a quick squash victory over Adonis with the Tsunami Splash.
Mercedes Martinez Attacks Io Shirai
Io Shirai marched to the ring and invited Storm for a confrontation. Mercedes Martinez appeared instead, and the duo brawled for a bit with Martinez standing tall at the end.
Leon Ruff def. Timothy Thatcher
A frustrated Thatcher tried to destroy the former North American Champion with plenty of strikes, while calling out Tommaso Ciampa. Thatcher set out a chair at ringside, but Ruff took advantage and rolled him up for a pin out of nowhere.
Post-match, Thatcher looked to attack Ruff, but Ciampa interrupted and dropped him with a Willow’s Bell, and challenged him to a match inside the Fight Pit. The match has been announced for the New Year’s Evil episode of NXT.
Tyler Rust def. Ariya Daivari
Rust, accompanied by Malcolm Bivens, gave a good presentation once again by taking out the 205 Live star. Rust applied an arm submission for the win.
Backstage: Leon Ruff came out of William Regal’s office and announced that following his win earlier, he will get a rematch for the North American Championship next week.
Adam Cole def. The Velveteen Dream
Cole dominated the early part of the match before an attack on Roderick Strong by Pete Dunne gave control to Dream. The duo battled past 10.00 PM, but the former NXT Champion came out on top after hitting the Last Shot with his exposed knee.
