The go-home show for NXT Takeover: Vengeance Day aired this week, with the final build for the PPV.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semi-Finals | MSK def. Legado del Fantasma
The two teams produced a great encounter to kick off the show, with the babyfaces coming out on top after hitting the double-team blockbuster finisher on Joaquin Wilde for the win.
Xia Li def. Cora Jade
Li made her grand entrance and did a bit with the sword, before destroying the enhancement talent. Kayden Carter and Kacy Catanzaro appeared at ringside concerned for Xia Li, but Boa held them back.
Post-match, Carter went up to Tian Sha, who was sitting on a throne, and mouthed a few words. Li took out Carter and apologized to the mysterious woman before Sha choked out Boa. Li ended up destroying Catanzaro as well to end the segment.
Backstage: Scarlett walked up to William Regal and demanded a match for Karrion Kross against Santos Escobar. Regal agreed to set the match for next week.
Kushida Attacks Johnny Gargano
The Way entered the ring with Johnny Gargano in a wheelchair, pretending to be injured after Kushida’s attack last week. Gargano said he won’t be able to defend his title at Takeover. William Regal entered and called out Gargano’s charade, and said the medics cleared him a day before. He asked Gargano to either forfeit the title or defend against Kushida.
Kushida attacked Gargano out of nowhere, as the ‘injured’ Gargano got up off his wheelchair to defend.
Women’s Dusty Rhodes Classic Semi-Finals | Shotzi Blackheart and Ember Moon def. The Way
The heels dominated the match, but Blackheart and Moon ended up having the last laugh in this rivalry after a senton from Blackheart was enough to pin Hartwell.
Post-match, Blackheart and Moon went face-to-face with Dakota Kai and Raquel Gonzalez. Regal announced that the winners will receive a trophy and a future title shot against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.
Backstage: Ciampa and Thatcher said they enjoyed the hard-hitting encounter against Undisputed Era last week, and are equally excited to face the tough Grizzled Young Vets, and go on to win the Dusty Cup on Sunday.
Backstage: Santos Escobar looked confident ahead of his match against Kross, as Wilde and Mendoza walked up to him to apologize for their loss. Escobar told them to not apologize and go on a hunt for Kross.
Kushida def. Austin Theory by DQ
Gargano, with a sling in his arm, distracted Kushida multiple times during the match. It came to a head when he attacked Kushida when he had the arm-breaker locked in on Theory, to end the match in a DQ.
Post-match, Gargano took off his sling and attacked Kushida, until Dexter Lumis appeared. Kushida and Lumis took down the heels as Kushida stood tall with the North American Championship to end the segment.
Backstage: Wilde and Mendoza were laid out by Kross, who sent out a warning to Escobar ahead of their match next week.
Backstage: Cameron Grimes pulled up in his Lamborghini sporting a fancy gear and said that he invested in Gamestop and DogeCoin which have gone to the moon, and he is filthy rich now. He said money is power and Regal can’t make him fight zombies and Dexter Lumis.
Backstage: Johnny Gargano reminded everyone that he is Johnny Takeover and Kushida will have to walk his way on Sunday.
Dusty Rhodes Semi-Finals | Grizzled Young Vets def. Timothy Thatcher and Tommaso Ciampa
The two hard-hitting teams went at it even before the match started, before bringing the action into the ring. After several minutes of destructive action, Grizzled Young Vets hit the Ticket to Mayhem on Ciampa to qualify for the finals.
Post-match, all the Takeover participants had a face-off or a brawl as Finn Balor and Pete Dunne met in the ring to end the show.
