WWE presented this week’s installment of NXT with the task of building up to NXT Takeover: War Games and Survivor Series at the same time. The show succeeded greatly in both aspects, with some high-quality battles along with proper advancements in the storylines.

NXT Cruiserweight Championship: Lio Rush(c) def. Angel Garza: After defeating Tony Nese to become the No.1 contender last week, Garza cashed in his opportunity in the opening bout of the evening. A fantastic fast-paced bout, which evoked a “This is Awesome” chant from the pumped-up Full Sail crowd, ended with Rush retaining with the Final Hour.

Backstage, WarGames participants Rhea Ripley and Tegan Nox were shown laid out by a mystery attacker.

Xia Li def. Aliyah: The women not involved with the first-ever War Games match took part in this singles matchup, as WWE’s first female superstar from China won the matchup with a big roundhouse kick, which opened up Aliyah’s face.

Finn Balor made his way to the ring to address the WWE Universe. Balor talked about how he left NXT in fine shape and now it has been ruined by the likes of Johnny Gargano. Balor dissed Matt Riddle, before Riddle appeared and attacked the former NXT Champion.

Balor retreated as Riddle was greeted by the Undisputed Era. Keith Lee and Tommaso Ciampa joined Riddle and the two teams exchanged verbal jabs.

Keith Lee def. Roderick Strong: Lee took down Strong in this non-title match-up. The match had a lot of shenanigans happening at ring-side, as Riddle was attacked by Balor, while Ciampa tried to take on the rest of the Undisputed Era.

Post Match, the Undisputed Era tried to attack Lee, but Dominik Dijakovic made the save. Dijakovic single-handedly laid out the heel faction and shook hands with his nemesis Lee.

Backstage, Marina Shafir, Jessamyn Duke, and Candice LeRae were laid out. Triple H appeared and asked for the security to tighten up.

Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott def. Bronson Reed: Scott defeated NXT’s resident jobber with his House Call finisher.

Backstage: Cathy Kelly delivered the news that Matt Riddle will take on Finn Balor at Takeover, and Dominik Dijakovic will replace him in the War Games matchup. There is still no news on the final member of Team Ciampa.

Pete Dunne vs Killian Dain ends in No Contest: The matchup never got going as Damien Priest attacked both the superstars even before the bell rang. Priest stood tall to end the segment.

Backstage: Dakota Kai made peace with Mia Yim and promised to have her back in the ladder match against Io Shirai.

Ladder Match- Io Shirai def. Mia Yim: Io Shirai and Mia Yim contested in the ladder match to secure an advantage at the War Games matchup, and Shirai won with help from NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray. Dakota Kai tried to help Yim, but Ray took out Yim and Kai to ensure victory for the Team Baszler.

Post Match, Baszler came out and applauded Ray, and Ray looked to be the final member of Team Baszler. Bayley ambushed Baszler out of nowhere and retreated to the back to end the show.
